Fashion designers:  They design  collections , garments , accessories and textile.They are the eyes and the mind of the company. They need to be able to look at market studies, trend analysis, to be aware of what is going on, of current fashion and see the new direction to take with their designs. They need to be enthusiastic, prolific, curious and connected to the constantly changing world surrounding them. They may be responsible for a number of tasksincluding researching fashion trends,setting up the collection file  with its surrounding

pages, looks, volumes, figures, colour  surrounding, material, flat  sketching, technical sketching and the fitting of the models." buttons , zips , prints and patterns etc...".

                  

                 

Pattren Makers : A genuine technician whose task consists in translating the fashion designers’ ideas  into a  3 dimensional cloth model while respecting the spirit of the collection as well as taking into account the production tool. They have to create their own representation of line and volume- the figure. They need to acquire the necessary skills in order to be able to create and manufacture a   design :- from prototype to industrialization. They are in charge of thecarrying out of the project helped by two techniques- flat pattern cutting  and  the making-up of a 3 dimensional cloth model on dummy.

 

Curriculum

 

      3 years  from October  to June

• 1^st year  The acquisition of technical and artistic basis
•  2^nd year  Market and product  knowledge, improving the different techniques. A three-week corporate internship.
• 3^rd year   General  review of all the techniques, researching and setting up of one’s own collection and its surrounding, presenting it to a jury composed of professionals ,  taking  the TOIEC (Test of English for International Communication )  and taking part in a three-month corporate internship.

The degree called ‘ Fashion designer and Pattern Maker’ is accredited by the French state and recognised as a professional degree.

The students who are awarded the IICC-MODE ’Fashion designer and Pattern Maker’  degree  can try to graduate  for a fashion degree – BA - the following year.
